DayTripper is here23-11-2015
Forget the War of the Roses. Travelling between Lancashire and Yorkshire is now easier than ever before, with the launch of a new DayTripper ticket from bus operator Transdev.
The operator, which runs services across both counties, has launched a new company-wide 'DayTripper' ticket which can be used across its network in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
It means shoppers could travel from Preston to Leeds and back for just £9, while walking groups could travel to the Ribble Valley from Harrogate.
And for groups of five there is a DayTripper group ticket, priced at £19 – ideal for groups to see the sights of York, visit the classic tearooms of historic Harrogate or spend the day shopping in Leeds.
Alex Hornby, chief executive at Transdev, said: “We are told that people love the idea of integrated travel and the simple concept of paying once to travel all day, without limits.
“The new DayTripper collection joins up our network across the major towns and cities we serve meaning so many more travel opportunities to a great range of destinations.
“The group ticket represents huge savings for groups of friends, shoppers and sightseers and presents the perfect opportunity for our customers to visit parts of both counties they might not have been to before.”
The DayTripper ticket priced at £9 for an adult; £6 for children and £19 for a group of up to 5 adults includes travel as far East as York on Coastliner, but doesn't include onward long-distance travel to Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington. To reach these areas, a DayTripper plus ticket, priced at £15 for an adult; £10 for a child and £31 for a group of up to 5, includes full access to the coast on Coastliner as well as including the open-top York City Sightseeing bus.
All DayTripper tickets can be used all day, any day of the week.
The tickets are available on board and via Transdev's Lancashire Bus app.
