124 bus goes back to Great and Little Knowley

14-07-2010

The 124 bus services between Chorley and Blackburn will once again service the villages of Great and Little Knowley from next month. The route was changed when we took over the service at the end of last year after the previous operator said it was unprofitable.

Our Marketing Director Nigel Eggleton said, “The new look 124 has been running for 6 months now and it has proved to be very successful. Numbers are up and there’s been some really good feedback from passengers. We thought it was right to reassess the route. We’d originally been asked to serve the hospital but passenger numbers haven’t lived up to expectations. So the 124 will go back to the original route restoring the link to Great and Little Knowley.

“There is now an hourly service on the route from Monday to Saturday from early in the morning until just after the evening peak. There are extra buses during the morning and evening peak times. All services are operated by low floor, easy access single decker vehicles. Our journeys will be operated commercially without any burden on the taxpayers. Services in the evening and on Sundays are run by another operator with support from Lancashire County Council.”

The 124 service isn’t the first link we've had with Chorley. The Chorley Interchange is already managed by Lancashire United.
