Prev Whalley Abbey Next

Whalley Abbey was a Cistercian monastery until 1437, and then became a private home until 1923. The abbey is now owned by the Diocese of Blackburn, who restored it in 2005. Although many of the buildings are in ruins, it makes an atmospheric backdrop for conferences, events and celebrations.

Whalley Abbey is used by Spot On Rural Touring Network as a venue to make arts more accessible to rural communities. Their programme includes music, dance, theatre and children's shows. For more information visit their website
